Saving Drafts

How drafts help writers prepare work before review.

Overview

Drafts give you private space to hold an article before it becomes part of the editorial workflow. A draft can be rough, incomplete, or simply waiting for a clearer moment.

When to use this

Use drafts when the article is not ready for an editor, when you need to pause, or when you want to shape the piece over more than one session.

How it works

1. Start or open an article in the writing flow.
2. Save the article as a draft before submitting it.
3. Return to the Drafts page when you want to continue.
4. Review the title, excerpt, article body, and reflection prompt before submission.
5. Submit only when the piece is ready for editorial review.

Things to know

• Drafts are private and are not visible in the public library.
• Drafts do not appear in an editor's queue.
• Saving a draft is not the same as submitting for review.
• If a draft no longer fits, you can keep refining it before it enters the workflow.
