Published Article Revisions
How to update an article that is already live without confusing it with a returned submission.
When this workflow applies
Use a published-article revision only when the original article is already live. A returned submission uses the normal Needs revision flow instead.
How it works
- Open the published article from Submissions.
- Start a revision. The platform creates a draft linked to the published original.
- Update and submit the revision through the normal editorial workflow.
- If the revision is approved and published, its status becomes Revision published while the source relationship remains recorded.
Important constraints
- Only one active revision can exist for a published source article.
- Starting another revision is blocked until the active one is completed or discarded.
- Discarding the revision removes the active draft; it does not remove the published original.
- A returned revision and a revision of published work are different workflows.
