Missing Notifications
What to check when expected notifications do not appear.
Where to check first
- Open the notification bell or /dashboard/notifications.
- Check the related article page or dashboard queue to confirm whether the workflow action happened.
- Use the page's current status as the source of truth if a notification is delayed.
Events that usually create notifications
- A Writer submits or resubmits an article.
- An Editor returns an article to the Writer.
- An Editor sends an article forward to Manager review.
- A Manager approves, schedules, or publishes an article.
- A Manager assigns, unassigns, or reassigns editorial work.
- Article Rhythm reminds, flags, or makes a delay visible to Manager.
- A Writer's dashboard becomes unlocked.
When a notification may not appear
- Not every field edit or page visit creates a notification.
- Email delivery can fail without blocking the actual article movement.
- Local development can show websocket connection warnings if the notification socket is unavailable.
- Some actions are visible through dashboard sections rather than a separate message.
If the number on the bell looks wrong
Open the notifications page and use Mark all read if needed. The unread count is based on saved notification records for your own account.
